The following series of 3 postcards were re-puposed from a drawing of the male figure on gessoed paper. The cards were then further developed to make them ambiguous land/sea/scapes. The text on the reverse is a poem fragment by Anna Akhmatova.

"A land not mine, still
forever memorable,
the waters of its ocean
chill and fresh..."

#72 November 2015 Mail Art

This piece was created using the clayprint monotype process. The plate is a slab of clay and clay slips are used to add the color. Brushes, stencils and other mark-making techniques are used to form the image. It is printed by laying a special polyester fabric over the damp clay markings and using a roller to transfer the image to the fabric. I learned about the process from Martha Castillo. Learn more about the process at http://www.marthacastillo.net

By C Rizzuto for Mercedes LaMarquesa, New Mexico.
